Calling All Ghosts, Ghouls, and Dead Movie Stars: It’s Contest Time!

I am excited to announce the very first contest giveaway here at Sittin’ on a Backyard Fence! It’s easy to enter. All you have to do is send me an email at Sittinonabackyardfence (at) gmail (dot) com and tell me what your favorite Halloween costume was as a kid/adult.You can also tell me your favorite classic horror film or character. In your email, please tell me your name and a website/blog if applicable. Once the contest is over, I will post your submissions for everyone to read!

You are allowed one entry. The contest ends at Midnight EDT Sunday, October 16th. I will select the winner by random drawing the next day. The winner will be contacted via email and if I do not receive a response within three days I will select another winner. For this contest, entries must be from the US and Canada only.

I am giving away a brand new copy of The Criterion Collection release of Charles Laughton’s masterpiece The Night of the Hunter. The winner will receive their choice of either the DVD or Blu-ray version of this fantastic film. If you’ve seen this film, then you probably understand why I have selected it for a Halloween giveaway. If you haven’t, then let me just say this: the hymn “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” has never sounded so sinister.

If you haven’t subscribed to The Fence, please do! Also, feel free to share this contest on your websites and blogs. I would love to have a ton of submissions!

UPDATE: Contest is closed. Thanks to all who participated!

I have the film on DVD and it really is an amazing release. Not just is it a great movie but it is filled with extras. I haven’t even had a chance to watch all the extras yet.

I hope you get a lot of people who try out.
